Phylicia is a southern girl who currently lives in Los Angeles, CA. As a professional photographer, she enjoys capturing the unique beauty of people and the things that surround them.
Phylicia was once asked why she chose to be a photographer. Here's why...
"I love art and as I've gotten older, photography has been my form of artistic expression. The thing that drove me to choose photography starts with my grandparents. They died before I was born so I've never had a chance to meet them. To this day I only know of 2 maybe 3 pictures of my grandfathers and growing up there weren't any pictures of my grandmothers. Ironically, both of my parents lost their mothers when they were babies; meaning my mom and dad grew up without knowing what their mothers looked like. As a kid, it always bothered me that no one had pictures of them. Years later when I was in my early 20s a picture of one of my grandmothers finally surfaced. I'm still hopeful that one day I’ll see the other.
Photos hold more than your eyes can see sometimes. Years may go by before you see the full picture but it's there. They hold history, emotion, youth, style, technology, memories, perspective, family...photos are one of the few things that remain to tell a story when we're gone." - Phylicia
